Continuing the Legacy of a Heroine
The Doreen Clemetson Scholarship
Doreen Clemetson, affectionately known as “Miss Clem,” inspired thousands of Jamaica’s young people to achieve excellence in education and community service. She dedicated her life to serving Jamaica’s youth through the Girl Guides Association of Jamaica, where she served as Chief Commissioner and President, and as the Principal of the Hopefield Preparatory School.
Miss Clem quietly and effectively touched many lives, inspiring others to achieve excellence without bringing any attention to herself. While doing so, she embodied the values of service, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, honesty and commitment to excellence.
In celebration of her memory, this scholarship will help young Jamaicans who embody her values, to pursue tertiary-level studies in the field of education. In doing so, it will build on Doreen Clemetson’s legacy by supporting Jamaica’s next generation of teachers and guiders who in turn will inspire Jamaica’s youth to achieve their full potential.
